Josh Giddy has not received a long-term contract offer from the Chicago Bulls. This is quickly becoming an unpleasant situation.
During the 2024-25 season, Josh Giddy averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. It was a promising season, especially as he strengthened it later in the campaign.
Giddey’s campaign included a magical game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Unfortunately, this promising season has not led to a major contract extension from the Chicago Bulls. Giddey reportedly wants a similar deal to Jalen Suggs.
According to Sam Amiko, now Giddy is even more annoyed because he doesn’t get the attention he wants. This could settle him down for a smaller contract with the bull.
The team is probably interested in using flyers to provide Giddey with good money, as evidenced in the 2024-25 Bulls campaign.
However, his demands have seriously hurt his market. A similar deal with Suggs means he wants about $30 million a year, but this is not what the Bulls want to spend.
If the second apron isn’t that big of a problem for the team, then someone could have scooped him up by now.
Unfortunately, CAP restrictions mean that Giddey is not that attractive to the team. He’s not a high-level defender and his production is not as consistent as the team wants.
Giddey is completely justified in his frustration, but he was able to lower his demands. If he does, he may order a stronger market beyond the bull.
By not getting their first pick in the Alex Caruso trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Bulls have proven they see the best potential in Giddy.
Most fans wanted to get a first round pick with Giddy, but that didn’t happen.
But the Bulls front office believes in Giddy, especially under the supervision of Billy Donovan. He has already spoken about how excited he is with Giddy’s progress during the 2024-25 season, and Australian security guards were able to continue improving his game when he re-signs with them.
This is still a question mark as Giddy hasn’t gotten the deal he wants, but the most likely scenario is that he holds him in small deals later this offseason.
