Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi has linked her move away from the club during the summer transfer period.
He is the target of clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain. Duncan’s Castle confirmed on the podcast that Bournemouth has accepted a 70 million euro proposal from Tottenham for the 22-year-old defender.
However, London outfits can’t make a deal. The player chose to move to PSG instead. They are now confident in securing an agreement with the English club.
In his soccer transfer, Castle said: “Paris Saint-Germain is confident that they will complete an agreement with Bournemouth on the relocation of Ukrainian centrebacks. They have agreed to a 22-year-old for several months.
“Bornemouth has accepted a 70 million euro proposal from Tottenham, a record fee for the club. Owner Bill Foley is pushing Bournemouth technical staff to reach Zabarini’s club record.
“My understanding is their efforts to convince players to move to Tottenham instead of PSG, and now there should be a deal. He joins the European champions, not the owner of the Europa League.”
Illia Zabarnyi is a quality defender
Zabarnyi is a reliable performer and there is no doubt that he has a quality that thrives at a high level. PSG was able to win the league title and the UEFA Champions League last season, making it an attractive destination for defenders. He aims to fight against them for a big trophy.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
Tottenham, on the other hand, will be disappointed by the situation. They are ready to pay the defenders a premium and have already secured an agreement with the club. However, they were unable to convince them to join the defenders.
Tottenham needs a defender
Tottenham had to bring in quality central defenders, and Zabarni would have been the ideal acquisition. He has himself in Bournemouth and in the Premier League, and he is young enough to improve even more. He may have grown into a key player for Tottenham.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham has decided to move on to another target now. They need to snug their backs this summer. They can’t expect to look defensively vulnerable last season and complete a high league table with defensive capabilities.
