Newcastle United are being tilted to seal the transfer of Brighton forward Joan Pedro this summer. He can be used for less than £60 million.
The 23-year-old Brazilian could play as a striker or as a midfielder on the No. 10 or central offensive, enjoying an impressive 2024/25 campaign.
Pedro finished with 10 goals and six assists in Brighton’s 27 Premier League games. It makes sense that he is attracting attention from other clubs.
Brighton often had to earn a star name these days, with key players like Moises Kayseko and Mark Kukulera moving to Chelsea, while Alexis Mac Alistair was sold to Liverpool.
Looks like someone to see from Newcastle from Joao Pedro
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Pedro should see Newcastle this summer.
Talking to Geordie Boot Boys, Bailey explained his current understanding of Pedro’s situation.
“Joanne Pedro looks like the most likely addition at this point,” Bailey said as he discussed Newcastle’s target.
“He’s looking for Brighton and they’re ready to let him go, I think he could go for a decent fee of under £60 million.
“It would represent a good business given that Brighton treasures him, nearly £100 million last year.”
Where did Joao Pedro fit in Newcastle?
Bailey also gave his opinion on how Pedro would fit on Eddie Howe’s side.
“He’d give Newcastle an extra layer of options. They could play Gordon on the left and Isaac through the right. Or maybe Burns on the left and Murphy on the right is Pedro.
“Newcastle is making progress. Pedro is the very number one forward target because it stands.”
NUFC won the Carabao Cup and competed in the Champions League this season, so a good summer is essential for progress next season.
Pedro looks like he could become a decent business for the magpie if the magpie pulls it off.
