BJ Penn is being offered a temporary restraining order approved by a Hawaiian judge after his mother applied to protect him from his son after two arrests, including UFC legend.
On Tuesday, Penn’s mother, Lorraine Singh, cited her restraint orders for Penn as “extreme psychological abuse” after claiming she was in fact a con man who “killed his family” and a fraudster who took over her mother’s identity.
Judge Jeffrey Ng approved a temporary restraining order provided to Penn on Tuesday, according to court records online. The restraining order will remain ongoing for at least 180 days, and Penn will take place in court on June 10th, with a full hearing on the matter.
Penn is not permitted to hold orders in place within 100 feet of her mother, and is not permitted within 100 yards of where her mother lives or works.
As part of the temporary restraining order, Penn must also attend the court hearing in June. He is also not permitted to “contact, write, telephone or electronically” his mother or anyone living with his mother.
Violating a restraining order is considered a misdemeanor and could result in a prison penalty of up to one year and a fine of up to $1,000.
Singh applied for a restraining order after Penn was arrested last Sunday and Monday on charges of abuse of his family and household members.
In the documents that filed the restraining order, Singh claims she has returned to her home from the trip and discovers that all her belongings have been removed from her bedroom. Penn denied involvement in the missing property. A few days later, Singh claims that her wallet had been stolen from the safe, which led her to report theft with the police.
Singh later sets up a lock on the bedroom door along with the security cameras of the house, but Penn lowers the camera and claims that “he puts glue on my body that stopped me from opening my bedroom door.”
Last weekend, Singh returned to police from another trip, and it is said that Penn placed duct tape on her security cameras and glued it to a dead bolt lock on her bedroom door to prevent her from entering. When Singh later accused Pen of stealing the mail and claimed that he found the mail behind a vehicle belonging to one of his son’s friends, the 46-year-old fighter was allegedly denied it was her mail, grabbed her by the arm and pushed it against her car.
Penn is eventually arrested and told to leave his mother for the next 48 hours, but Singh claims he has returned to the house and she presents video evidence to the police as proof, which led to Penn’s second arrest for days.
“I think my son (BJ Penn) suffers from Capgrass Delusion Syndrome (a mental disorder in which he holds the delusion that his friends, spouses, parents and other close family members have been replaced by the same con artist.” “I believe he is the con artist who killed his family and killed them to control his family’s assets.
“In my best interest in my safety, I will ask the court for six months (a temporary restraint order) and order my son to obtain treatment and other sources of treatment.”
Penn has made nasty posts on social media, claiming that his family is dead and that they are all replaced by scammers. He also posted a video showing his first arrest by police last Sunday.
Widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, Penn last fought in the UFC in 2019, and after conquering both welterweight and lightweight titles in his career, he remains part of a small group of athletes to hold the belts in two different divisions.
