Conor McGregor insists that his fighting career is not over as fan sentiment continues to turn towards him.
At least that’s what McGregor’s latest claims only goes back to combat if he booked a stadium event, and he still has a “unfinished business” with longtime rival Michael Chandler.
In response to a clip from WWE’s annual WrestleMania Spectacle at the 65,000-seat Alleyjunto Stadium in Las Vegas last weekend, McGregor tweeted, “I’m back in the stadium” before rekindling the flames of the potential Chandler fight. The two have been tied to a potential matchup for years, with Chandler repeatedly calling McGregor and coaching him across from him Ultimate Fighter 31and later, McGregor’s injuries sparked a scheduled fight at UFC 303 this June.
McGregor has not fought since July 2021 when he broke his leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. His return was complicated by numerous legal issues, including injuries, business and entertainment ventures, political aspirations in his home country of Ireland, and the fact that he was held liable for sexual assault in the past November in connection with the incident that occurred in Dubrin in 2018.
It’s enough to say, fans aren’t defending exactly for the next fight of the previous two division UFC champions (if that happens). Check out some of the best responses from the community below.
