According to Daily Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath, Crystal Palace is preparing for a new push from Tottenham Hotspur to sign star midfielder Eberechi Eze in the coming days.
The Spurs, now under Thomas Frank’s management, are expected to accelerate their interest as the summer transfer window moves towards a critical stage.
Frank publicly expressed his satisfaction with the team he inherited, but he also made it clear that he welcomes players who can provide the right addition, authentic quality and versatility.
Tottenham lacks depth in its creative department
It was revealed that Spurs have no choice in the creativity and offensive division, particularly following their loss in the UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
That’s the position Frank and his management are targeting, and Eze emerged as their top target.
Tottenham’s interest only strengthened after a recent injury to James Madison, bringing a gap to creative midfield options.
Last season, Eze registered double digits on both goals and assists across all competitions, attracting interest from several top clubs.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is expected to require a large transfer fee from one of its best players.
The royalty will be asece for Spurs
The South London Club knows how important Eze is to their ambitions next season, especially after losing key players already in recent windows.
For the Spurs, Madison’s injury accelerates the need for players who can unlock stubborn defenses, and Eze’s central or wide-operated ability makes him ideally suited to Frank’s system.
The race to sign Eze at the final stage of the summer transfer window could be interesting as Tottenham rival Arsenal is keen to bring England International to Emirates Stadium.
