Masters runner-up Justin Rose withdrew from the Trust Championship before the third round on Saturday due to illness.

Rose, who lost to Rory McIlroy in the playoffs at Augusta National Golf Club on April 13, struggled in the first two rounds at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. He posted a 77 overs 77 while playing in the rain on Friday, and was at the bottom of the leaderboard in an uncut signature event.

“After gradually getting sick over the past few days, I made the unfortunate decision to withdraw,” Rose said in a post on X.

The second major of the season, the PGA Championship, will take place next week at the Quazur Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Rose, the 11-time PGA Tour winner, has finished second in each of the last two majors. He finished second in last year’s Open Championship at Scotland’s Royal Toon Golf Club, and two strokes behind winner Zander Shaufele.

Michael Kim, who was supposed to play against Rose on Saturday, had withdrawn from the Trust Championship during the third round due to a back injury, the PGA Tour announced.

“Buck wasn’t very good to start the week and it got worse over the last two days,” Kim wrote to X. “(i) get treatment and try to come back as soon as possible.”

Starting the season, Kim ranked 155th in the official world golf rankings and rose to 53rd with three top-10 finishes in his first 13 starts on the 2025 Tour.
