Kendrick Perkins believes Joel Embiid is heading in the wrong direction, reminiscent of the former New York Knicks star.
Joel Embiid has become one of the NBA’s most disappointing numbers. Despite his immeasurable talent, the former MVP rarely has been in court.
Last season, Embiid played 19 games.
The 76ers will remain paired with Embiid and Paul George, at least for another season, as they are trying to chase the NBA championship at least.
Embiid enters the 2025-26 NBA season in October with injuries that could derail pre-season preparations.
According to one NBA medical expert, Embiid’s injuries may be something he cannot recover. Well, in the same way, Kendrick Perkins compared Joel Embiid to the legendary New York Knicks star whose career was derailed by injuries.
Kendrick Perkins recently spoke about Joel Embiid’s situation about The Road Trippin’ Podcast. He believes his career is heading down a dangerous path.
Perkins compared Embiid to Amal Stodemia. However, the injury has derailed his career, and Perkins believes the same will be said about Embiid in the coming years.
“When I’m watching this situation with Joel Embiid, I say that his Prime isn’t like the others, so that’s scary to me.
“His prime is not like Giannis or jokes. It means windows. I’m looking at this. The first thing that pops out into my mind is Amal Stoudemia.
“Do you remember Amar’e being here?
“Then all of the sudden injuries happened. So, these concerns came up, so am I like the windows of two or three years of Embiid at a high level?”
The Philadelphia 76ers are having a big season. In the depleted Eastern Conference, the 76ers have one of the most powerful rosters on paper.
If things go well, they have a very good chance to compete for the NBA championship. But there is one major problem.
A major decision variable for the success of the 76ers is Joel Embiid’s health. Unfortunately for them, they have no control over that variable.
If Embiid is unable to maintain good health for most of next season, can the 76ers consider moving from their previous MVP?
They have exciting young cores with Tylese Maxey, Jared McCain, Quentin Grimes and VJ Edge.com. These four players can make travelling from Embiid an easier decision.
