Draymond Green may be the most polarized player in the NBA today despite all his accomplishments.
Thirteen seasons and four championships took part in a professional basketball career, but he still regularly calls both overrated and underrated.
Some believe his defense and basketball IQ make him an elite player, while others believe his scoring will hinder him.
Kenyon Martin and Kendrick Perkins are two newest former NBA players considering Green’s argument.
Kendrick Perkins and Draymond Green have never seen anything eye-opening since the former retired from playing and began their media careers.
However, the former Boston Celtics Center recently defended Green after Kenyon Martin shared controversial views about his position within the league.
Perkins said: “Kenyon Martin basically said, “There are 200 players more than Draymond Green. The only thing he’s getting through a lot is the championship and its nature.”
“You’re right. He has four of them. He has four championships. Now, when you talk about basketball games and being a better basketball player, I think he’s trained Al Jefferson, Elton Brand and Lamarcus Aldridge.
“If you’re asking me if Draymond Green is a better basketball player than the three guys, he’s right. He’s one of the greatest defenders I’ve seen in game history.
“When it comes to being 6’5” or 6’6, you can play center position while fighting the 7 footer and pinning the dynasty defenses over this long period at the highest level.
“We’re sitting here and saying, ‘Draymond Green might not be the most skilled offensive player.’ They may have been offensively skilled when it comes to getting a bucket, but that’s all you can say is really better than Draymond Green. ”
Draymond Green is hoping to win his fifth championship with the Golden State Warriors next season, further strengthening his Hall of Fame cases.
The Warriors have played against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs last season after Stephen Curry was injured.
The Golden State surprisingly haven’t improved their team this offseason, but Green’s comments three weeks ago suggest that they already think they’re good enough.
“There was a heavy lift,” he said. “We added Jimmy, and I think that was the biggest thing that needed to happen. Now you can do the tools around it. Now you know what Jimmy looks like in the system.
“We know how Jimmy likes to play, and we can use tools like that. We can lock you up before that, understand what we got and where we get and push them.
“Free agency is tough. You try to go to court to people and make the best offers. And you don’t always know what it is. For some, it can be the best amount. For others, it can be completely different.
“I think I’ll just go into it, it’s all about seeing and seeing… I think we’re in a much better position heading towards this.”
