Kendrick Perkins will support the La Lakers to turn their fate next season after years of playoff struggles.
The Los Angeles Lakers have put together a very strong roster this season to compete for the NBA Championship.
This summer, the Lakers have signed Jake Laravia and DeAndre Ayton in free agency, working on two important roster positions they need.
They got even stronger when Luka Donsic hired Marcus Smart for the Lakers after the former defensive player of the year agreed to buy it with the Wizards.
And it’s safe to say that things are good for the Laker country, as Donsic’s physical transformation impresses even LeBron James. Kendrick Perkins thinks they are tied down to the NBA Finals.
Kendrick Perkins today discussed the NBA’s views from the Los Angeles Lakers during their media day mandate.
Perkins pointed out that Luka Doncic is locked up, and that he likes the Lakers went with a free agency to improve their roster. It’s even possible to see him reach the NBA Finals for the first time in five years.
“The most important thing is he’s excited. He’s motivated. That means Rob Perinka and the Lakers front office have done their job this offseason.
“If he comes to training camp and he’s happy and he’s excited about this season, then (and) he’s excited by the moves they’ve made, and I’m excited too.
“I’m very high up for the Los Angeles Lakers. I have them there with OKC and Houston, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this team were to participate in the NBA Finals.
“They have a lot of young veteran guys. I love what Louis Hachimura brings to the game. Austin Reeves, we saw a flash of what he could be last year with the advances he took offensively.
“Luca is in great shape. They got offensive points defenders and Marcus Smart around.
“What we haven’t seen in a long time. His spirit will be there. So I’m expensive on this Los Angeles Lakers team.”
Just as the La Lakers roster is here for now, they could even get better during the regular season.
LA Lakers are open to using current assets in trading if it means that they can land Star players in the future.
The Lakers have been turning their eyes to Andrew Wiggins for quite some time, but the Stars won’t move anytime soon as the Miami Heat approaches Jimmy Butler.
Perhaps the Lakers try to land Walker Kessler, who has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent public appearance with the Utah Jazz.
Anyway, expect the Lakers to be linked to a few players ahead of the February trading deadline for next season.
