The Sacramento Kings have changed Isaac Jones from a two-way contract to a standard contract.
Heading towards the end of the season and the playoffs, the Sacramento Kings are rewarding Isaac Jones for their team’s performance.
Jones was an undrafted rookie, signing a two-way contract and flipping between the Kings roster and the Stockton Kings of the G-League team.
He has contributed to the Kings’ 31 games this season, all averaging 8.3 minutes per game.
Keon Ellis was an undrafted rookie for the Sacramento Kings in 2022 and came to the team likewise and spent time with the Stockton Kings.
Ellis played 16 games in 68 games. As a starter, he averages 8.4 points this season.
Following the team’s defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks, Kion Ellis spoke about his recent conversation with Isaac Jones, explaining his happiness to the rookie.
Ellis said: “I’m definitely, really, really happy. I didn’t find the news. I was actually talking to him. He knew. He didn’t tell me until I thought we were going to finish the shootaround.
He said that when he heard the news, Jones tried to play it.
“I went to him. I knew you were happy. He was like, ‘No, I’m really cold.’
“I’m like, ‘No, I know your heart is beating right now.’ ”
“But yeah, definitely, really, really, really happy. And I mean the work he put in, it’s two-way and the impact he had when he was there and got a few minutes with us.
“He was huge, so I’m definitely really, really happy for him and hopefully the best for him.”
The Sacramento Kings are currently ranked ninth in the Western Conference and are hoping to do a surprise playoff run.
The season was difficult for the King. Franchise player De’aaron Fox forced the San Antonio Spurs to trade. This comes after Coach Mike Brown was fired at the end of December.
In a highly competitive meeting, the king is .500 with a record of 35-35.
For young rookie Isaac Jones, the chance to take part in the NBA postseason will be a dream come true, even if he continues to play it cool.
