Kevin Durant has always been rumored to be trade, but it appears he has chosen a team of his choice. He also considers potential expansions with the next team to participate.
After a rocky stint with the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant is on his way out. He is looking for a deal away from the Suns. This will likely be his last NBA team. At 36, Durant is looking for his final contract, and he hopes it is worth his time.
The teams he wants to go to are the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat. These are good options as Rockets and Spurs could tempt Phoenix into assets. At the same time, Miami may not have the best assets, but they are an attractive team for Durant.
This will remove the Minnesota Timberwolves from the discussion. That’s amazing because most people thought it was the front line to get Durant.
Durant may be 36, but he wants to stay in the NBA as much as he can. He has an aging playstyle, so that’s good for him. The team that wins him will earn a high-level scorer in a proven championship experience.
The Spurs, Rocket and Heat all have the financial strength to offer him a long-term deal. Durant also has a strong basketball reason to join these teams.
San Antonio has Victor Wenbanyara as a star player and has a supporting cast that continues to develop well. Houston has Amen Thompson. He’s poised to become a two-way superstar. Finally, The Heat has an all-star duo of Tyler Hero and Bamu Adebayo who will be productive alongside the superstars.
All the teams on his favorite list make sense. The fever may be most meaningless due to recent struggles. However, it is difficult to go to players as they are in a proven victory environment.
Despite fierce rumors that Durant will go to Minnesota to play with Anthony Edwards, it is currently on the backburner. People were excited about the potential partnership, but it doesn’t seem to happen. Things could change in the coming days, but sources revelation says Minnesota is out of running.
Athletic Jon Krawczynski revealed that the Timberwolves discussed the Durant trade dating back to February 2025. That’s probably a big reason why the Timberwolves aren’t KD’s favorite landing spot.
Minnesota has also made Jaden McDaniels out of control in trade debates. They hope that great players will be part of their return, but McDaniels is incredible for Minnesota.
It’s an understandable decision from the Timberwolves, as McDaniels is important to their system. Unfortunately, that probably leads to Minnesota not getting Durant. That’s a shame for anyone who wanted Durant to be paired with Edwards, but the Suns want a better asset.
