Kevin Durant will be joining the Houston Rockets after a trade agreement with the Phoenix Suns.
The Houston Rockets traded for Kevin Durant and put together some better offers than the Miami Heat could manage.
There was competition from the entire league of Kevin Durant, the Golden State Warriors’ two-time champion.
Now he’s been able to go back and back in 1994 and 1995, so he’s looking to help the Houston Rockets win their first championship.
Kevin Durant is one of the NBA’s greatest players of all time and ranks seventh on the best scoring list of all time.
Two years ago, he overtook Hakeem Olajuwon, the Houston Rockets legend, ranked 16th.
Olajuwon led the Rockets to their final NBA championship in the mid-90s, and Durant admitted that there was a kind of personal connection.
Durant told Yahoo in 2023 that he told Yahoo, “My mom fell in love with Orajuwon when I was a child, so that’s all I’ve heard at home. It was Orajuwon inside the house, not Jordan.
“And someone she told me to study from the kids, and you know. So I really admire his game and his journey as a man, and his journey as a basketball player.
“So it’s always amazing to be amongst great people. I’m so grateful.”
Hakeem Olajuwon spent almost the entire career with the Houston Rockets from 1984 to 2001. He was traded with the Toronto Raptors, but retired the following season.
Kevin Durant is currently set to play in the fifth different NBA franchise, and can make history by becoming the first player to be selected by the All-NBA on five different teams.
This is an achievable goal, and the Rockets are expected to be one of the most competitive teams in the NBA next season, building their second finish at the Western Conference.
The response to trade was positive for the Rockets, but the Phoenix Suns got the opportunity to reset, earning their 10th overall pick in this year’s draft, with Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks.
