Boston Celtics legend Kevin Garnett proposed an interesting theory about the second round series against the New York Knicks.
Despite being a good team on paper, the Boston Celtics have so far not had the answer for the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
As a result, the Celtics lost games 1 and 2 at home as they faced a 2-0 deficit ahead of Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.
The Celtics are certainly under pressure now, with former NBA superstar Kevin Garnett recently proposing a theory about the reasons behind this current deficit.
Before taking on the Celtics, the Knicks locked the horn with the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
It was a tough series for both sides, but Jalen Brunson ultimately helped the Knicks seal their victory with a phenomenal game winner in Game 6.
Back to Garnett’s comments, the former Celtics star believes that taking on an offensive team like the Pistons might have helped the Knicks overcome the skill gap against C in the second round.
“I think the physicality from Detroit has been brought into this series. They (the Knicks) have the most offensive team when you see it,” Garnett said.
He added: “I think the Celtics need to go to New York with a different mentality.”
The Celtics are in the back, but the series is not over. If the Knicks can come to Boston and win two games, then the Celtics in New York can do that too.
Either way, Garnet enjoys this Titan clash in the East, but has urged the Celtics to “take care” for the rest of the series.
“I love this in basketball. There are two great cities that I love basketball. I want to see two Titans going to see great basketball,” KG continued.
“You were beat twice at home and had to be careful,” Garnett concluded.
Will the Celtics bounce back and register their first victory in the series? Or will the Knicks lead a 3-0 lead? Fans will know immediately.
