The Dallas Mavericks’ brooding season is coming to an end, with Nico Harrison interviewing the exit.
The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated after losing in the Memphis Grizzlies play-in tournament.
And seeing how Oklahoma City lightning destroyed the Grizzlies 151-80, it was probably a disguise blessing of the Mavericks being kicked out of their misery.
This meant general manager Nico Harrison was free to do the season-ending exit interview, but he made it very clear that he was going to see the deal in Dallas.
Harrison admitted during his press conference since his decision to trade Luka Donsic that he had underestimated the size of his fans’ love for the superstar.
Nico Harrison is pleased to simply tick the box of holding a press conference and get out of the way.
His press conference rarely changed the perspective of the trade itself, or Dallas’ handling of it.
NBA analyst Kevin O’Connor gave a poignant verdict pointing out how he appears to be offensive about Nico Harrison’s remarks.
He believes the Mavericks should abandon Harrison’s project and start anew following the crash from the NBA Finals.
O’Connor writes to X:
“Apart from a few slips showing just how incompetent he is, there are so many evasive answers.
“The Mavericks should pull the plug into Nico’s plans. Rebuild. Start completely fresh.”
Nico Harrison admitted that he was the brain behind Luka Donsic’s trade and persuaded Gov. Patrick Dumont to “see the vision.”
He claimed that his relationship with Dumont was stronger than ever, and that he also responded when asked why he shouldn’t be fired.
Harrison explained:
“From start to finish, you have to judge the whole thing. I think I have a really good working relationship with Patrick.
“At Rick (Weltz), the leadership we have is truly elite and we’re going to compete for the championship next year when our team comes back.”
