Khabib Nurmagomedov believes that the path to redness is still open for Conor McGregor.
The infamous ‘ has not fought in the octagon since suffering a broken leg in a trilogy battle with Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Since then, McGregor’s legacy as a former title holder in two divisions has been covered by legal battles.
In November, McGregor was liable for the 2018 rape of a woman at a Dublin hotel, and was ordered to pay the victim $285,000 in damages in addition to legal costs of more than $1 million. McGregor immediately declared that he would appeal the court’s decision. The court refused to appeal McGregor in July. This means that damages related to the original verdict remain.
In the chaos of his life, McGregor also declared himself a candidate for Ireland’s president.
But despite all the drugs, drama and infidelity, McGregor’s fierce rival believes that the Irish megastar still has a chance to turn things around and make life right.
“I don’t want to mention his name,” Nurmagomedov said in a Q&A session. “This is a punishment, this is a punishment, and he continues to do this, he continues to do this.
Conor McGregor still has the opportunity to “come back”
McGregor and Nurmagomedov’s memorable lightweight title Clash in October 2018 holds the record for the most viewed battles in UFC history, generating over 2.4 million purchases and $17.1 million gates.
“But the most beautiful part of this always gives us. It’s not important, it’s a chance for everyone to come back,” Nurmagomedov continued. “It’s always a chance to come back in this world.
“This is the most beautiful thing. It doesn’t matter what you’re wrong. Allah gives you a chance to always come back. I think he has a chance. He has to change the way he lives.
Nurmagomedov suffocated McGregor in the fourth round of the UFC 229 headliners seven years ago, but their rivalry still burned brightly, with the Irish taking digs and “Eagle” in interviews and social media.
