Khalil Rountree Jr.: ‘I Put My Whole Heart Into That Fight — Second Place Was Never the Goal’
SHARE

Khalil Rountree Jr. gave an undeniably impressive performance against Alex Pereira.

After tying five consecutive victories within the Octagon, the “War Horse” went to the toe with “Potan” at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City. And he put together one hell of the show, but he ended up suffering from TKO in the fourth round of their light heavyweight headliner and was shortened.

Looking back at the match he made during his recent appearance on Ariel Hellwanishaw, Rountree Jr. was grateful for the recognition he gained from the fighters and fans, even if it wasn’t the outcome he wanted.

“I put my heart into that fight. Everyone gave me props, blessed me, and showed me how much respect, admiration and admiration they had after the fight, but I wanted to win. I didn’t get second.

“The best thing I did to balance was to go back to training and realize that I still had to continue climbing. It was good to have motivation and support from the fans and get the attention of the fans, but mixed with going back to training, I think the training certainly balanced.”

Rountree Jr. aims to return to his victory column as the promotion heads to Azerbaijan for UFC Baku on Saturday. In the evening’s main event, “The War Horse” will take on former £205 title holder Jamahal Hill.

Like Rountree Jr., Hill is looking to bounce back after suffering a cruel third round knockout loss against Jiri Prochazka in January.
