Khalil Rountree Jr. scored a unanimous decision against former lightweight title holder Jamahal Hill with a dominant performance at the UFC Baku headliner.
Rountree came out looking particularly lethargic. In most cases, both fighters were extremely cautious in the first five minutes, landing leg kicks and keeping their distance from each other.
A low kick from the Lone Tree began paying dividends second as Hill showed some major swelling in his right leg. The “war horse” landed another one almost over the hill where the hill was placed on the mat.
Rountree really began taking over third, knocking the hill on the mat twice, first followed by a counter left, followed by a big right hook in the second half of the stanza. Lone Tree planted the hill on the canvas with a fourth-part another left hook, but “Sweet Dream” got a guard just in time.
In the fifth round, Hill tried to pick up the pace, but as the lead leg was compromised, he was unable to gather much power on the output, causing Rountree to win a decisive victory with the scorecard.
