Los Angeles utility man Kaik Hernandez spoke about his thinking during the postseason and why he tends to get better in October.

Hernandez has developed a habit that appears during the postseason and has already gotten a hot start in 2025. In the ‘ wildcard series with the Reds in the wildcard series, Hernandez hit .500, scored three runs and drove once in the two-game series.
“I know they brought me here for this kind of moment. It sucks in 162 games that didn’t work. But when you get here, it really doesn’t matter,” Hernandez said.
“The beautiful thing about the postseason is that once you get to the postseason, everything starts from scratch and nothing is important about the 162. … You can get a bad year, you can start over in the postseason first, you get a good postseason, the team won, we won it all.

Hernandez mainly played in exchange-level baseball in 92 games during the regular season, but it is almost expected that he will start producing at the plate coming in October. He has a career postseason OPS of .882.
Manager Dave Roberts spoke about Hernandez’s importance on the team, especially at such a critical point of the season.
“Kike is clearly an energy guy. When he’s doing well and playing, guys eat it,” Roberts said.
“October Kike is very special, and his track record speaks for itself. Throughout history, he is one of the best in postseason history.”

The hope that Hernandez can take over the lineup with some excellent productions this postseason. The opening game for the series begins on Saturday at 3:38pm.
