No one has earned a knockout in a Bellator cage than a Patricky Pit Bull. He wants to continue building that reputation in Japan. Pitbull will sign an exclusive agreement with the organization after leaving the PFL, facing Shunta Nomura on Super Rizin 4 on Sunday morning.
He has already competed in Japan four times and faced top competition within the Lysine ring, winning three of the four by knockouts, including a finish from current lightweight champion Roberto Satoshi. Pitbull lands a football kick to stop Louis Gustavo and hopes to secure an attack that he was not allowed to throw Bellator and PFL, as well as other old school finishes.
“I hope we don’t take this fight into the third round,” Pitbull told MMA Fighting. “Japan is where I give me the freedom to be more aggressive. I can’t explain exactly why, because the rules are a little different, so trampling is involved. I can throw my elbow (on the ground).
Pitbull won twice in MMA’s Stomps, a knockout on the Brazilian circuit 20 years ago. The 39-year-old gained more experience as a former Bellator lightweight champion and gym leader along with his brother, Patricio Pitbull.
“I know that when you perform well, it’s quite possible,” Pitbull said. “I’m not expecting that. I don’t know if they decided to give me another fight and make this rematch a little longer, but good fights, good performances, they could book this for the biggest event of the year (big Years’).
Pitbull and Satoshi met in July 2023 at their second Bellator vs. Rizin show. On behalf of North American promotions in a cage instead of traditional Japanese rings, Pitbull cut Satoshi’s leg down before the final stop in the third round.
Satoshi now dates back to four consecutive wins, finishing all opponents in the opening round since March 2024.
“He’s an indisputable champion. No one can take the belt from him, but I beat him at another time,” Pitbull said. “He fought on two weeks of notice and we were fighting in the cage, but I don’t know if that would hurt him. That’s not an excuse, but he may not have had the ideal time to prepare for me.
