In the opening match of the tournament, India concluded the UAE innings with just 57 runs in 13.1 overs, with Kuldeep being the main architect behind the destruction.
He returned with an incredible number of 2.1-0-7-4, like just 13 balls, but Kuldeep dismissed four UAE batters, including the ninth dominant show, with three wickets in the bag. Kuldeep also won the Match Award Player Award for his hero.
Later, in the second match against India’s Pakistan, the left arm wrist spinner saw the fire again and dismantled the opposition batting forces. He returned with sensational bowling numbers of 4-0-18-3.
When you have to sit, it’s always difficult – Kuldeep Yadav
Prior to the India-Pakistan clash, Kuldeep Yadav spoke to the broadcaster and said that it would be difficult for him to be on the bench, but that gave him the opportunity to improve his fitness. He explained in detail:
“Of course (in his POTM performance) it started with a good note. I’m really pleased with my performance.
“It’s always difficult when you have to sit down for the conditions and demands of a team (missing too many games). I worked on my fitness. It helped you grow as a player, playing in the Durep Trophy and bowling 35 overs.
It’ll be normal – Kuldeep Yadav by fighting against Pakistan
When asked if India would continue its spin-heavy approach at the 2025 Asian Cup, Spinner replied.
“Depending on the conditions, it tends to be slower, and it’s a three-week tournament. The weather here is over 35. That’s what your team needs.
Kuldeep Yadav further said that the matchup against Pakistan is very normal for him, revealing that he has improved batting for Test cricket. He said:
“When you play in the World Cup, it becomes normal because you are playing under pressure. You want to do well against them because of the history of two teams.
In particular, Kuldeep Yadav was one of three unlucky players on the Test Team of the Indian National Cricket Team, and won the bench against the England National Cricket Team in all five matches in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
This is because head coach Gautam Gambir prefers multi-skilled players and by improving his batting, Kuldeep Yadav wants to send a message that he is ready to chip in the run.
