Kyrie Irving finally dealt with the infamous question that planted seeds for the inevitable parting between LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Kyrie Irving and Lebron James formed one of the most dominant duos in the NBA when they teamed up together in 2014.
In a move he helped with orchestration without his knowledge, James wanted to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014 and fulfill his promise to win the Cavaliers fans and franchise championship.
LeBron took just two years to achieve that goal, leading the Cavs to the 2016 NBA Championship. He was Kyrie Irving. Both James and Irving were scintilling in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Kylie and LeBron processed the ball for the cab, but it was their excellent chemistry that helped the pair flourish on the court.
But all of that chemistry and their bond dissipated in 2017, when Irving left the Cavaliers. And some fans speculate that it was one question from the reporters who laid the foundation for their division.
In 2017, reporters asked Kyrie Irving if LeBron James appeared to be the Cavaliers’ father.
Now, a few years later, Irving finally revealed how rude the question was. He repeated that his father was Doredrik Irving and that the question was completely in line.
“This is my dad. I only have one father, Dorederick Irving. I only have one father. That question was crazy so I’m happy that he recreated that meme, that companion.
“When someone asked me if LeBron was like my father figure, it was a crazy question.
“He seems a few years older than me and you asked if he was my father.
The questions referenced by Kyrie Irving come from the 2017 Cleveland Cavaliers practice session. The reporter asked what type of parent role LeBron James played for him and the Cavaliers.
Reporter: “Kylie, Tristan (Thompson) called LeBron a great father after the Chicago game. What parental role did he play for you and your teammates?”
Irving: “The role of a parent? I don’t know how to answer that question. He was a great leader for us. I have one father. That’s my father, Doredrick Irving.”
Irving was visibly confused and disregarded by the question. Over the next few months, LeBron and Irving’s relationship will be much sour.
And after the 2017 NBA Finals, Irving called for trade for the Cavaliers. He joined the Boston Celtics.
It took several years, but Irving and LeBron were able to repair the fence and become great friends again. But it’s strange to imagine how difficult questions were derailed to be Cleveland’s dynasty.
