The Los Angeles Lakers made a notable move against the roster as the second round of the NBA Draft was over.
Without a pick in the first round of the NBA Draft, the LA Lakers competed to get into action in round two. They traded up to Chicago from the age of 55 to 45 people. And at the age of 36, I traded it for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Lakers took Arkansas’ Ado Tiero with 36 before making the move following the draft.
After the draft, the Lakers delved into the undrafted market, robbed the steal and signed Villanova’s Eric Dixon.
Eric Dixon was the most prolific scorer in college last season, averaging a total of 23.3 points per game.
“Villanova star Eric Dixon has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told ESPN,” Shams Charania said.
“Dixon was the number one scorer in college basketball last season, shooting 41% from the 3-point range.”
Part of the reason Dixon skated outside the second round was due to concerns about his defense, which would be an important issue he has to prove himself.
His three-point shooting is obviously a draw, and the Lakers are constantly in need of scorers. However, JJ Reddick showed how he benched Dalton Knecht throughout the playoffs.
One reason Dixon hasn’t been drafted was his age at 24. He was one of the oldest players in college basketball.
Dixon will play for the South Bay Lakers in the Summer League and aim to win a spot on the LA Lakers roster when the 2025-26 season begins.
But for now, he has the opportunity to make an impact, and he decides to take it.
