LeBron James’ relationship with the Los Angeles Lakers was a huge topic this offseason.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has yet to show signs of a sudden decline as a player, even at the age of 40.
Naturally, the Lakers assume that the King will retire as a member of Purple and Gold. However, after LBJ selects the $52.6 million player option, both sides are not on the same page.
The Lakers have improved their roster with several additions this offseason, but they are lit by green to please Luka Donsic. Now the Lakers have the opportunity to make James happy by reuniting with his former teammate.
Following a two-and-a-half year stint, the Miami Heat officially parted ways with Kevin Love as the veteran forward was traded for the Utah Jazz.
But even at 37, Ai has no intention of spending the Twilight years of his career with the reconstruction team.
This led to rumors about love that could finalize the acquisition of the Jazz deal. NBA insider Evan Sidery added fuel to these rumors in his latest report on the X.
“The Jazz is working to close the acquisition of the Kevin Love deal. Love is known to want to join the 37-year-old potential candidate for last season in the NBA,” reported Sidery.
The acquisition at the final stage of the contract allowed some teams to love leadership in the locker room. Among them, the Lakers are expected to become a major candidate as they allow James to reunite with Love.

Love and James shared four seasons of court during the King’s second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In fact, they also won the 2016 NBA Championship as teammates.
Fast forward to 2025, K-Love isn’t a former star, but it hasn’t stopped Lakers fans from daydreaming about reunion with James.
“The Lakers were able to use him,” one fan wrote. Another added, “He will sign with the Lakers shortly after the Andrew Wiggins deal.”
“LA after they bought Andrew Wiggins and released the roster,” a third fan added.
“The “Lakeer of the Future” meme once made sense,” the fourth fan felt.
“The most obvious Laker,” said a purple and gold fan with confidence.
Love averaged 5.3 points per game, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists last season. So it’s clear that he won’t help much in court.
But his love with James and his ability to be a vocal leader will certainly support the Lakers in their quest to win the 2026 NBA Championship.
