LA Lakers are busy formalizing agreed transactions between free institutions.
The dual signatures of free agents Jake Laravia and DeAndre Ayton have become official for the LA Lakers.
The Lakers’ next business was to reclaim Jackson Hayes, who provided backup in the center position and depth behind Iton.
This came despite coach JJ Redick snubbling Hayes at a critical time during the playoffs. The Lakers coaching staff feel he has something to contribute and can develop.
When it was reported that Jaxson Hayes was set up to re-sign LA Lakers, he was allegedly given a “no trade clause.”
This was triggered as an automatic provision for players who acquire a one-year transaction for the third consecutive year, subject to the terms of the latest CBA contract.
However, it has become clear that Jaxson Hayes has agreed to waive this clause, giving the team the right to trade him when necessary.
This was reported via Dan Woike who wrote, “Jaxson Hayes waived his implicit Notredead clause in order to re-sign with the Lakers.”
Another update also had a notable impact for the Lakers regarding players who lost in free agency.
The Lakers have rushed to negotiate with Dorian Finney Smith, who has been signed with the Houston Rockets.
Finney-Smith rejected a $15 million player option with the Lakers and signed what was reported as a four-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets.
However, Hoopsype reports that only two of Finney-Smith’s four years in Houston are guaranteed, so new details are revealed.
The Rockets can move on from Finney Smith if they choose for 2027.
The agreement shows that Houston’s deal wasn’t overly luxurious and that the Lakers could have hit something similar.
