Real Betis are keen to sign Chelsea attacking sensation Marc Giu on loan when the transfer window reopens.
Marc Giu’s loan spell at Sunderland has been cut short following an injury crisis at Chelsea. Although the team brought him back just a few weeks after joining the Black Cats, the teenage attacking sensation has not spent enough time at Stamford Bridge so far.
The lack of game time has not satisfied the 19-year-old striker and it seems he is considering his options. According to a report from Fichajes, Real Betis have emerged as a potential destination for the Barcelona graduate. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are said to be interested in securing his presence midway through the season.
Giu’s transfer to Chelsea didn’t go well
Giu rose through the ranks at La Masia. He was promoted to the Catalan giants’ first team at the beginning of 2024, but six months later Chelsea signed the Spanish striker.
Things did not go as planned as his game time was very limited during his debut. The Blues, who signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in the summer, have decided to loan him to Sunderland.
However, Delap’s injury and the departure of Nicholas Jackson forced him to be called up. However, the Blues haven’t given him enough time since his return. Delap’s possible return will further impact his chances of playing first-team football.
Giu is pushing for withdrawal.
As a result, the 19-year-old appears to be considering parting ways with the Blues in the next transfer window. A return to Sunderland has been linked, but the Black Cats may be reluctant to bring him back given the circumstances of the summer.
However, a loan move to Spain could definitely help his cause. Giu wants regular action in the first team and Real Betis may be open to giving him a key role in the team. Manuel Pellegrini is looking for more firepower and the teenager could definitely help their cause.
However, it will be interesting to see if he is ready to move on and if both clubs can agree on mutually beneficial terms.
