According to Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta, Marcus Rashford’s preference was to become Manchester United’s “one clubman.”
Rashford signed Barcelona earlier this week, with Blaugrana lending England International for the 2025-26 season.
Last season’s Lariga champion Barca also has the option to buy Rashford.
The 27-year-old supported himself under United’s Reuben Amorim, spending half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
Laporta claims that Rashford sees himself as staying with United throughout his career, but instructed that the situation is not the case.
“We are very happy. We are coming at a great age to come to Barca with amazing motivations because we have great quality players coming,” said Laporta, cited by Goal.com.
“Personally, I have seen how excited he is to come to Barca.
“One of his virtues is that he is integrity. His dream was to play for Manchester United for the rest of his life.
“Yeah… it’s official.”

“He arrived at the age of seven and was born there. He wanted to be a ‘one clubman’.
“It’s good for players to say this honestly.”
Rashford, who made his United debut in February 2016, has made his 426 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 138 goals and registering 60 assists.
Rashford had his best campaign at United in 2022-23, netting 30 times in all competitions, but only netted eight more times for the club before departing for Villa midway through last season.
He will become the second English player to appear in Barca after Gary Reinker.
