Tyrese Halliburton joined LeBron James and Reggie Miller for his latest achievement, but he did it in a way that he couldn’t imagine.
It’s become extremely difficult to come up with a unique top to explain the run where Halliburton is on. The Indiana Pacers point guard sunk a shot that won in yet another game against the Oklahoma City Thunder this time in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
NBA fans were shocked after Halliburton drilled a clutch shot against the New York Knicks in Game 1. However, after tonight’s heroic, this became a normalized part of Tyrees Halliburton’s experience.
Halliburton emulated Reggie Miller in Game 1 and Game 1, both in his theatrical play and his festive style. And like Miller, he became the Knicks villain.
However, after the Thunder against his latest game winner, Halliburton joined Reggie Miller along with LeBron James, achieving an incredible playoff milestone.
With the dagger that won the match against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Tyrees Halliburton registered a fifth go-ahead or game-winning field goal within the final five seconds of the game.
He now ties Reggie Miller second, and has been behind LeBron James for most of these field goals since the 1997 NBA playoffs.
What makes this statistic even more interesting is that of Halliburton’s five field goals, four of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
He shot his first shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2, two of whom worked overtime in the fourth quarter and against the New York Knicks. And his fourth shot was against the lightning.
This means he will be third behind James and Miller, based on his playoff runs so far.
Few NBA players can dream of putting together playoff runs, as The Tyrese Haliburton is on. What makes his performance even more impressive is how he does it without setting a video game number.
During the playoffs, Halliburton averaged 18.5 points, 9.5 assists and 5.9 rebounds. These numbers are very strong, but far from what they call the greatest ever in the playoffs.
And while Halliburton made history with a 30-15-10 triple double against the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, his numbers never jumped out of the box score.
What the younger point guards are doing is redefine what it means to be a superstar in the NBA playoffs and what it means to take over the game.
The series is not over, so Lightning will certainly fight back. But Tyreese Halliburton is already beginning to leave his mark on the biggest stage the NBA has to offer.
