The former second round draft pick has regretted it since the 2014-15 NBA season.
Playing in the NBA is a dream come true for most basketball players around the world. However, there are a few things that can make the experience even better.
One of them is close to the consensus goat, Michael Jordan. MJ retired at the final hour of 2003, but the player had a 13-year window and was still close to him.
how? Now, Jordan was the majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets from 2010 to 2023. Former NBA player Lance Stevenson had the opportunity, but he wasted it badly.
Looking back at Stevenson’s career, he scored a one-year stint with the Hornets during the 2014-15 NBA season, essentially making him a journeyman for the league.
Stevenson recently spoke about his year in Charlotte and how he destroyed his relationship with Jordan.
“I got paid. I’m comfortable. That hunger… I was thrown away a bit. That’s the only year I regret,” Stevenson told the Brooklyn Podcast at 7pm.
He added:
In the context, Stevenson’s numbers fell from 13.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists in the 2013-14 season to 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game in the 2014-15 season.
After a terrible stint with the Hornets, Stevenson continued to play for seven different NBA teams over the next five seasons. This excludes his short two-year exit from the NBA.
Speaking of his travel posts, Stephenson also played for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2018-19 NBA season.
It was a great moment as Stevenson shared the court with his longtime rival, LeBron James.
Stevenson has not retired from the league, but has not been involved in the NBA since the 2021-22 season.
