LeBron James is in his 23rd season in the NBA along with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Despite all ongoing rumors about his retirement, LeBron James is not going anywhere for now.
The Lakers will need a fully engaged James if they want to maintain their chances in the loaded west.
But even if the Lakers don’t keep winning the championship, this season will be something special for James.
No matter how people feel about James, they cannot take away his greatness.
What he could do in his career to this point was amazing. He won the championship. The MVP and Final MVP set the highest score ever.
But even so, there’s still much James can achieve. Former NBA player and coach Byron Scott talked about this about Byron Scott’s fastbreak podcast.
“This year’s LeBron James, historic year, whatever. If he races them up for Game 1, he’ll all be a different record from Game 1 to Game 82.
“The game is played and you get older, points, assists, that’s going to be another record.
“And you had to give him that prop. You had to give him respect for it.”
Scott was a bit exaggerated when he was talking about all the records James will set this season, but there are some records that James almost certainly breaks.
The first is the most seasons played by NBA players in their careers. If James plays in the 2025-26 season, it will be his 23rd season that will be the new record.
The other is a game that was played. James is 50 games away from breaking Robert Parrish’s records in most regular season games played at 1,611. James currently has 1,562.
Finally, James continues to add to his all-time high scorer. He currently has 42,184 career regular season points.
