According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea was interested in attacking Crystal Palace midfielder Ebeki Eze and reportedly discussed him this week.
England International seems like a kind of top talent the Palace may have a hard time holding, but they will end up worrying about other things this summer.
Eagles midfielder Adam Wharton is also interested, but Chelsea appears to be gaining confidence in Eze.
According to Phillips, Bruce has thanked Eze for many years, but now feels that he may be more available than this summer.
It certainly makes sense that Eze keeps moving faster than slower, as the 26-year-old shows he can play at a higher level than the palace.
Eberechi Eze seems to be the ideal signature for Chelsea
Chelsea fans will be desperate to see their club bring in someone who’s a little more proven than most of their recent signatures.
The West London Giants have focused much on recruiting elite young players under their current owners, but have yet to deliver results.
Eze looks like a good person to complement this youthful team.
Eberechi Eze may support a move to Liverpool
Eze, of course, links to other top clubs such as Liverpool.
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown, who recently spoke to a football insider, suggested that Eze would join Liverpool more than someone like Manchester United, which could make things harder for Chelsea too.
“He proves he can do it on a big stage under great pressure and is focused on him,” Brown said of Eze.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s not interested in the move to United.
“He’s going to see evidence of the players he’s done before him. He doesn’t want to be another example of what United can do for players.
“The move to Liverpool or Arsenal, which is of interest, would be much better for him.”
