Leeds plans to add a Premier League experience to their team for next season, and Newcastle has plenty. They know this, which is why they lined up one of Eddie Howe’s current players as targets for this summer’s transfer period.
It is clear that Daniel Fark’s team will need to be added significantly this summer to avoid an immediate relegation to the championship. Also, one position that could be addressed is the striker. This is especially true because there are doubts about Mateo Joseph, who has been linked to UEFA Conference League finalist Real Betis and remains at the club next season.
Jamie Birdie has linked to Leeds and now another experienced Premier League striker is on the radar: Callum Wilson.
Leeds shows interest in Newcastle striker Calm Wilson
As Football Insider reported, Leeds is squeezing Wilson as an option ahead of the summer transfer period. The 33-year-old is scheduled to leave Newcastle when his contract expires at the end of June.
West Ham also linked to Wilson, who is expected to remain in the Premier League next season, even if he leaves Newcastle. And while Leeds could guarantee he will stay on top flights, they could guarantee a normal starting spot, given that Joel Pillow should continue in the lineup.
It is still unknown that Leeds has made concrete attempts to sign Wilson, but if he can overcome the hardships of his injuries, he will definitely be a good team option.
