According to a new report, Leeds United were able to aim to replace two players they don’t believe will be enough to play in the Premier League this summer.
Leeds took a big step towards automatic promotion from the championship over the weekend as they beat Preston North End 2-1 at Elland Road. All three goals of the day were scored in the enthusiastic 13th minute in the first 13 minutes, with Solomon’s manners opening up within just four minutes.
Preston then levelled through Kane Kessler Hayden after just two minutes, completing the score when Jaden Bogle bundled Solomon’s cross into the net.
The victory ensured that Leeds were the top of the championship, and that they went on for just four games ahead of second place Burnley by goal difference and within nine points of guaranteed returns to the Premier League.
After the victory at Preston, Leeds boss Daniel Fark said, “We’ve got a pretty good one week of exhaustion. Three valuable points for us. It could have made our lives easier. It must have been the best XG of the season – we should have won six or seven.”
“We were on fire today. We went on and started really well and scored a really good second goal. It’s important that we’ve returned to good defensive action.
Leeds could quickly replace Bamford and Pillow
According to a new report from Football Insider, Leeds is already ahead of the next season, more specifically the summer transfer market.
The publication reports that “signing strikers is prioritizing this summer” because white people don’t believe current options Joel Pillow and Patrick Bamford are of Premier League quality.
Piroe has scored 15 goals in 42 championship games this season, but Bamford has not been able to find the net in 13 games.
Championship Top Scorer 2024/25 | ||
player | club | the goal |
Borja Sine | Norwich City | 17 |
Joel Pillow | Leeds United | 15 |
Josh Sargent | Norwich City | 14 |
Josh Brownhill | Burnley | 13 |
And James | Leeds United | 12 |
Josh Maja | West Bromwich Albion | 12 |
Football insiders have been skeptical that Pillow will be able to step up to the Premier League despite him being the second goal scorer this season, but Bamford has argued that he cannot rely on Fark because of his history of injury.
Meanwhile, young man Mateo Joseph bagged three goals for his term. As a result, Leeds and 49ers Enterprise’s top priority this summer is to sign top strikers.
As a potential replacement for Pyro and Bamford, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson spoke to football insiders and urged him to go out to Leeds recently to buy former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham from Rome.
“He’s like he can lead the line, play as an out-and-out striker and get his goals,” Robinson said. “He’s proven in Serie A and in the Premier League. He understands the league and is a well done player before.”
