Leeds is already thinking about possible additions that could be made to Daniel Fark’s team at the January transfer window, and left-back is an area that can be addressed. Gabriel Gudmunson, who joined the summer from Lille, has been living a tough life in the Premier League and was able to bring competition mid-season.
And one of the players Leeds has on the radar is Nico O’Reilly, who broke into Man City’s first team during 2025. The 20-year-old has been impressed with the left-back in recent months.
Man City doesn’t want Nico O’Reilly to leave in January
Ait-Nouri will regain the place when he returns, but even if that happens, Man City has no plans to allow O’Reilly to leave, as Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider.
“If Nico O’Reilly becomes available in the market, it’s not just Leeds who are clearly looking at him. He remains highly regarded as Etihad and I think Pep Guardiola sees him as an important part of his long-term planning.
“He is trying to maintain a city that is fighting the city for all aspects, especially for honors such as the Premier League and the Champions League. I don’t think Pep Guardiola wants to undermine his team.
It’s a shame Leeds has no chance to sign O’Reilly, but likewise it makes a lot of sense for Man City to hold his services.
