It’s pretty ironic that Colby Covington tells someone to retire after his defeat, but here we are.
Leon Edwards, who gave up the welterweight title to Manchester’s Beral Muhammad and ruled out eight months, has shown another inactive show against the rise of Sean Brady, a UFC London headlining contender.
Rocky’ had little answer to Brady’s takedown and ultimately succumbed to the guillotine choke in the fourth round.
As he did 24 minutes before the viral “headshot dead” moment against Kamal Usman, Edwards appeared to be completely defeated during the round and fought indifference in his eyes.
Colby Covington begs “Rocky” to put gloves on
Now, losing two straights, Edwards’ future is being questioned by fans and fellow fighters. However, Covington believes Britt’s next move is very clear.
“After that fight, I could say he wasn’t hungry anymore,” Covington said on a submission radio show. “He made too much money. I made him money from that press conference. So, yeah, I don’t think he’s motivated anymore and he should cut it.”
Edwards’ second welterweight title defense took on Covington in December 2023. “Rocky” gave a dominant performance, passing the third loss in the championship match to “Chaos”.
Some suggest that the fighter, who went 2-4 in his final six games, should take his own advice. Still, Covington made a compelling argument. Has fame defeated Edwards’ motivation? Are you interested in taking on the journey again after you have already climbed to the top of the mountain?
It really depends on fighter jets, but based on the body language of British Edwards, the competition seemed to be the farthest from his heart.
