Ferrari is set to run the much-anticipated new rear suspension at the Belgian Grand Prix following his debut test at Muguero, but Charles Leclerc has given a slimy verdict.
Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton completed 19 laps on the Italian circuit on Thursday as the Ferrari new suspension upgrade was first attempted.
Ferrari has kept the bank on tweaks to this suspension to save the season, following the overwhelming first half of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
According to Motorsport.IT, Ferrari has “approved” to run at Spa Franco Champ next weekend.
However, the initial signs are overwhelmingly unaffirmed.
The report argued that Leclerc expressed doubt about the early effects, suggesting that there was no “significant difference” compared to before.
Leclerc drove a SF-25 at Mugello Thursday morning.
Hamilton took over the driving duties in the afternoon, with Ferrari technical director Lois Cera in attendance to assess how the rear suspension modifications were working.
Ferrari season has been troubled by inadequate suspension setups, making it impossible to drive the car with the optimum ride.
As a result, it was difficult to drive the car to the limit and find the best setup.
Both Ferraris were disqualified from China’s Grand Prix due to excessive wear on the planks.
Since then, Leclerc and Hamilton have been forced to set the car’s setup optimally, spending lap times and lap times.
Similarly, both drivers are forced to lift throughout the race to nurse other issues.
Will Ferrari’s unwinning run end?
Ferrari is the only team in the top four of the Constructors Championship without winning the race.
This car lacks qualified speeds compared to its competitors.
The SF-25 performed well on race day, but it’s rarely a match for McLaren.
The suspension changes allow for more “effective control of ground expansion” and avoid deterioration of the underfloor board.
It also needs to be more consistent aerodynamic loads and allow drivers to drive more consistently.
But the first verdict from Leclerc is that it wasn’t a big difference before.
Ferrari will only have one practice session at the spa to fine-tune the car ahead of the span weekend.
