Lewis Hamilton urged Ferrari to make “subtle changes” to F1 cars ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying after identifying the loss of key 0.1 on Turn 1.
It was the strongest day for Ferrari in the 2025 Formula One season as teammate Charles Leclerc put both practice sessions on top.
Hamilton backed up Leclerc with FP2, setting the third fastest time, spending just 1.10 minutes from a tenth of a pace.
Ferrari endured a disastrous campaign and won one podium in seven rounds of the season.
Ferrari defeated the chance before the weekend due to slow debilitating.
Based on practice at least, Ferrari seems to be in the fight for pole position as he aims to win in Monaco in his second year.
After the session, Hamilton revealed he lost 1.10 lap times on turn 1.
“I think there’s more to find on my driving and line at this point in braking,” Hamilton said.
“I have a tenth (to find) a bits here and there throughout the lap. I think the car needs some subtle changes. I don’t make many changes.
“We might just change one small thing, like a quarter of camber, to the fullest, and I think that’s what happens.”
Hamilton felt incredibly positive after practice at Monte Carlo on Friday.
Hamilton has been racing in Monaco since 2007, but he still enjoys racing the iconic streets.
Hamilton won McLaren’s Monaco Grand Prix in 2008.
He had to wait until 2016 to win on the famous streets again.
He bagged another Monaco victory in 2019, just days after the death of Mercedes’ non-executive chairman and Formula One legend Niki Lauda.
“Amazing. It was amazing,” explained Hamilton. “It’s literally the coolest truck to drive. It’s the most fun. Every year is so much fun. Honestly, it doesn’t matter what type of car you’re in. Obviously, it helps when you’re in a car that feels good and fast.
“Grip, speed, it’s narrow, fast, it’s the best roller coaster ride of the year. It’s a very privileged. We’re one of the 20 drivers driving this truck, so I definitely felt so much… This morning I texted Ellen, my assistant for 20 years.
“I was very excited about the day. It went smoothly. The P1 was a bit of a challenge. The traffic and everything. The P2 got a lot better. It took me a bit longer to find. Charles is very fast, but otherwise it’s a good session.”
