Lewis Hamilton has revealed that Ferrari is developing a 2026 F1 vehicle and is working closely with Lois Cera to address some key issues.
Hamilton endured a disappointing start to Ferrari’s career and failed to score the podium in any of the opening 10 races.
The seven-time world champion is speaking out about his struggle to adapt to the SF-25.
Ferrari failed to build the car, including the title, as he scored just 14 points from McLaren at last year’s Constructors Championship.
After the Canadian Grand Prix, Hamilton suggested that important internal changes were needed at Ferrari to be a reliable force in Formula 1.
Hamilton spoke in Austria on Thursday, saying his focus is to ensure Ferrari is “long-term success” by working closely with the team’s principal, Frederic Vasser and technical chief Serra.
“We try to do everything we can, and in the background we work hard with Fred and our team and make changes and improvements to ensure long-term success.
“I’m working with Loic on the front and rear suspension next year, and my main focus is to make sure I learn from the previous year and learn from next year.”
Hamilton: Ferrari upgrades won’t “change huge amounts”
In the next few rounds, Ferrari is expected to introduce many major upgrades to save the season.
In Austria, the Ferrari is set up to run through the revised floor, which helps to fix ride height issues.
Like his teammate Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton doubts it will have a big impact.
“I’m happy to have an upgrade. It’s always exciting. I’m grateful to everyone who works hard,” Hamilton said.
“We don’t know yet. It has real effects. It’s not clear if there’s more information on the load added to the car.
“Hopefully it’s a step in the right direction, but I don’t think we’ll think we’ll change a huge amount. Fingers are better than we want.”
Hamilton hopes that the woman’s luck will be by his side this weekend.
At the Spanish Grand Prix, his race was cut down due to technical issues. Ferrari refused to give a detailed explanation publicly.
In Montreal, Hamilton sprinted through the groundhog and destroyed the underside of his car.
“I’m not making any excuses. We were second in the constructor before the final race. We had a lot of issues on both sides,” he added.
“The positive is that we are improving and progressing. I feel like we are progressing.
“It was a better weekend (in Canada) in the end, and the qualifying was improved. Obviously, I had problems with the race.
“A lot happens all over the weekend. Maybe one day we’ll find everything that happened to sabotage us — team mistakes, car issues, driver errors, etc.”
