Dainik Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi claims that BCCI executive president Rajiv Shukla has supported Rinku Singh’s Asian Cup choice despite his poor form in the form of domestic tournaments and IPL.
The Asian Cup is scheduled to be played from September 9th, but the Indian selectors finally received the much-anticipated call and announced their 15-member teams from India for the upcoming Continental Championship. However, tensions have skyrocketed since its release.
The AJIT Agarkar-led Select Committee has not once again seen Shrayas Iyer for his selection to the Asian Cup team despite his engaging performance in the shortest form of the game.

Since Shreyas Iyer’s snub, controversy has begun to build around the India Asia Cup team. Now, senior reporter Dainik Jagran, Abhishek Tripathi, played Rajiv Shukla as the main perpetrator of Link Singh’s choice against Shureyas Ayer, making a massive claim.
“Link and Samson shouldn’t have reached the team considering their recent form, but there are other factors that lead to player selection,” Abhishek Tripathi said.
He further accused her of “Link Kahan Seate Hai” (where does Link belong to).

He has filed a major allegation that Rajiv Shukla, interim president of the BCCI, had influenced the Select Committee and that Rinku Singh was on his side.

Shrayas Iyer’s Snub is known to be “contradictory”
Shreyas was India’s best batsman in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and was a standout skipper and batter in the domestic tournaments of the Punjab Kings in Mumbai and IPL, but he couldn’t impress the Indian selectors reach India’s T20I side.
Iyer played India’s T20I International in 2023 at T20I International. Meanwhile, India has considered Shubman Gill with his T20 debut and quoted his brilliance in the IPL as a major reason. Iyer is ignored despite having the same reasons.
The decision was found to be inconsistent by ICT fans and several cricket analysts and experts. According to Agarkar’s statement, Iyer has not been selected due to the unavailability of a location within the Indian side where he can exchange. However, Rinku Singh’s form is questionable, and Shrayas appears in No. 5 or 6 in medium order.
Poor form of Rinku Singh in the IPL over the past two seasons
After the dominant season in 2023, KKR batter Link Singh was chosen by the Indian selector on the T20I side. He also never looked back and continued his wonderful form with the blue man.
However, after the brilliance of that year, Rinku’s fate was doomed in the game. He only scored low in the subsequent IPL seasons. Rinku played the 2024 and 2025 seasons, averaging just 374 runs in 25 games.
His strike rate may not be soaked yet, but Link has been unable to play several times when his team needed him the most.
