Liverpool claimed Merseyside’s bragging rights as they returned from an international break in March on Wednesday night, securing a 1-0 victory over Arch Rival Everton at Anfield.

The Reds may have expanded here with a Premier League runaway, but Everton approached silence home support midway through the first half as they saw a strike where Betto was ruled out by the bar.

Another fiery Merseyside derby, James Tarkowski was extremely lucky to remain on the pitch after winning the ball in the sliding challenge, but then caught Alexis McAlistair in the knee with a stud on a follow-through.

It was eventually proven to be Arne Slot’s savior as Portugal’s international Diogo Jota made his home star after a solo run past Jordan Pickford.

Reestablishing a 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, Liverpool certainly claimed it was a rather welcome boost two weeks ago, from their public heartbreak.

On the night when the slot side moved within the touch distance of the crown this season, we saw the main story points from Wednesday’s showdown.

Liverpool makes another huge leap

Liverpool may have seen their respective EFL Cup and Champions League dreams rise above the smoke before the international break in March, but the Reds insisted that they were certainly an essential boost here.

Wednesday’s host is about to jump in and sign off on the Premier League turmoil as he could slip his fingers through the iconic silverware sweep.

Here past their arch rivals and claiming Merseyside’s bragging rights, the former Feynauld boss would have simply been re-exposed to see his team avoiding another public banana skin.

Seeing Arsenal claiming a 2-1 victory over Fulham on Tuesday night, the Reds once again reestablished a 12-point buffer at the top of the table, enjoying a sensational top flight romp this season.

In fact, the Slot man only needs 24 possible points, 24 points, and only 13 points to guarantee the deserved record 20th national title.

Everton missed the opportunity

As Liverpool suffered a major cup final heart break at Wembley as they fell into a 2-1 defeat in the capital at Wembley on March 16, Everton sniffed the opportunity to cross Stanley Park and score a potential hangover in Merseyside’s red half.

But while Toffee may have really made a comeback since David Moet’s emotional return to Goodison Park in February, Wednesday’s guest won one victory from his previous eight appearances in all competitions.

It ended on February 8th after seeing their FA Cup adventures and losing 2–0 at home with Bournemouth.

In addition to losing four previous trips to Anfield with a total score of 7–0, they only recorded one Premier League victory at Anfield in 1999.

Sadly, for Everton, things won’t be easy for Moy men as Arsenal welcomes Arsenal to Goodison Park this weekend.

Jota saves the day at Anfield

With the Egyptian icon remaining in the final months of his contract at Anfield, Mohamed Sarah is still at the heart of what has become a public braid, so it appears that a real offensive overhaul could be completed this summer.

With ongoing speculation that Darwin Nunes is not part of slot long-term plans ahead of next season, Jota highlighted his worth to Liverpool’s team on Wednesday night.

The former wolf star, who notched into his first Premier League strike, bagging what’s been a great solo winner here since the 1-1 deadlock with Nottingham Forest on January 14, remains a fan favorite around Anfield.

With slots making it clear that the versatile 28-year-old can play a leading role over the last few months, Jota looks like an offensive star keeping Anfield ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
