Since winning the Premier League a few weeks ago, Liverpool has been actively working behind the scenes to sign new players, or literally very literally enjoying a party life in Ibiza and Dubai.
Now it’s set to enter that part in the summer. Jeremy Fripon is planning to replace Trent Alexander Arnold with a new right-back in Arne Slot.
They can also welcome Bayer Leverkusen Florian Wiltz to Anfield, and the Germans are plagued by European heavyweights.
Valued at over £100 million, Wirtz is attracting attention from Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
Bayern finds Kevin de Bruin’s replacement while Man City hunts while signing domestic players.
So in such a hotly contested race, FSG will likely draw attention elsewhere.
Liverpool big fans alternative to Florian Worts
According to a report by journalist Graeme Bailey, Liverpool is currently working on a list of creative targets.
Transfer focus
Mega Money deals, controversial moves, famous flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinions across Football FanCust.
While Wirtz is on that list, Reds is conducting a background check for RB Leipzig’s Dutch midfielder Xabi Simons, but if Morgan Gibbs-White is available by Nottingham Forest, he is another player he can pursue.
Aston Villa Sensation and Morgan Rogers have also confirmed their names. The report states that Liverpool is a huge admirer of playmakers, but it would be difficult to praise him from Villa Park.
Rogers signed last year for a fee of just £8 million. As some reports argue, he is currently valued at around £90 million by the villain.
Given the villa’s PSR situation, it is unlikely that they will turn down a bid for the area.
Why is Rogers such an exciting signature?
The rise of Rogers’ meteor last year was extremely extraordinary. In January 2024, he traded Middlesbrough for the Midlands, and has since gained strength from strength to strength.
In 2024/25, the creative midfielder became Full England International, scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League against Celtic, supporting 29 goals involved (14 goals and 15 assists).
It feels like Liverpool is about to add players to his profile for a while. They became famous for missing Jude Bellingham before he went to Real Madrid and signing Hungary’s Dominique Zobosrai instead.
The attacking midfielder was impressed, but in the end the target threat was not very large.
This explains links to players like Rogers and Wharts.
The similarities between Villa Midfielder and the aforementioned Bellingham are also eye-catching. In fact, speaking in August, Sky Sports expert Jamie Redknap admitted that there was “something about what Jude Bellingham does” at Rodgers’ match.
That comparison comes from not only the way they carry the ball, but also in the words of European football expert Zach Roy, “not only is it a hallmark of Rogers’ ‘electric’, but also primarily from the final action at the final third of the pitch.

Given the elite status of the previous Borussia Dortmund Star, it is interesting to note that there is not much difference between the two of the metrics selected here.
Villa’s Starman has not registered many progressive passes, but he is in the lead of progressive carry, a special highlight of the duo’s game.
If the distance between the starting point and the next touch is at least 10 meters closer to the completed pass to the opponent’s goal or penalty area, the pass is considered progressive.
That would be a great alternative if Liverpool missed Wirtz when it comes to creating the most similar opportunities and scoring goals.
What’s even more noteworthy about this comparison is that the two are actually childhood friends, with Bellingham taking Rogers under the wing during his first training session with the three lions.
“He was like a little brother to me. We were quite together. We know most of my life. He’s my friend and sharing with him was a great moment he was here. It’s become so easy for me.” – Morgan Rogers in 2024.
So, Liverpool fans may not be very enthusiastic about Bellingham’s rights, of course, a good friend with Trent, but they will love his like players on the team.
While the game doesn’t often perform as much as the Madrid stars, Rodgers is on track to solidify himself as one of the most exciting English players.
