Liverpool has launched its summer transfer business by announcing the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremy Fripon on a five-year contract.

Hours after Trent Alexander Arnold announced he would join Real Madrid in time to play in the Club World Cup, the Reds quickly moved to sign his replacement.

The Premier League champions have caused Frimon’s 35 million euros (£29.5 million) release clause. The rolls are expected to be fully completed when opened on Sunday.

Frimpong played an integral role in helping Leverkusen win his first Bundesliga title in 2023-24, making 53 appearances in all competitions that finished second in 2024-25.

In fact, Dutch International has scored more goals (19) than any other defender in Europe’s top five leagues since the start of the 2023-24 campaign (19).

Frimon joined the Dutch terms of Virgil van Dik, Cody Gakupo and Ryan Gravenburch of Anfield, and was also able to quickly welcome one of his former Leverkusen teammates to Merseyside.

Liverpool is also in talks with Levarkusen, who signed Florian Wiltz, and the Reds have entered advanced negotiations for Germany’s advancement in a deal worth £109 million.

“It was very easy, Liverpool came and said they were interested.

“To me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, do this, do it.”

“Liverpool fans, I give me everything, my energy, my workplace, and I hope we can win together, we celebrate together, we will bring everything together.

“I’m excited to be here. Thank you for accepting me, I won’t disappoint you guys, and I will give you the energy I want.”
