Liverpool remain linked with a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
They came close to signing the 25-year-old England international in the summer transfer window, but the move ultimately fell through. It looks like he will be able to return at Guehi in January.
Will the Reds sign Marc Guehi in January?
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown says Liverpool will become more determined in the coming weeks to finalize a deal. They are in dire need of defensive reinforcements and Guehi would be a great addition for them.
Brown told Football Insider:
“He is by far the best option at the moment and is available for less than £35 million, which is an incredible amount for a defender of his quality.”
“Given the difficulties they’ve had on defense recently, they’ll be even more determined to get that deal done as soon as possible.”
Liverpool need Guehi
He is certainly one of the best central defenders in the league at the moment and could help tighten up Liverpool’s backline. They have looked vulnerable defensively at times and need to improve at the back if they want to win big trophies.
Meanwhile, clubs such as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been linked with the player. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Guehi has the qualities to play for one of the best clubs in the world and could be an asset to most teams.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are likely to lose Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer at the end of the season and will need someone to replace him. Signing the Crystal Palace defender would be ideal for them. He could be the successor to the French national team.
They managed to get the defender to join the club during the summer transfer window, but it remains to be seen whether they can convince him to join in January for now. He will also need to agree a contract with Crystal Palace. However, the Eagles will be under more pressure to sell him this time around. They wouldn’t want to lose a player of his quality on a free transfer in the summer.
