Liverpool are heavily linked with signing Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.
The Reds have had a huge summer transfer window, with Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak arriving at the club.
New players are taking time to settle in and show their true potential, leading to increased speculation in the media over who Arne Slott’s side could sign in the January transfer window.
Semenyo is a player on the radar of the defending Premier League champions.
The winger has been in good form for Andoni Iraola’s side this season, scoring six goals in 11 appearances.
Antoine Semenyo is not expected to join Liverpool in January
However, according to the latest information provided by transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, that may not be enough for him to move to Liverpool.
Romano said on the Give Me Sport Market Madness podcast:
“I don’t think he’ll leave mid-season, I don’t think he’ll leave Liverpool.
“I think Liverpool will be very quiet during January. It might be different in the summer. I still want to respect Bournemouth and want them to enjoy their player. It’s still November and they have no plans for him to leave in January.”
“It’s a very interesting situation because there’s a lot of interest in this player and there’s a release clause, but I think it’s in the summer. As for January, it’s very unlikely.”
The interest in Semenyo is understandable considering his form and potential.
Liverpool are looking to find a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, and Semenyo has emerged as a player who fits the profile of the player they are looking for.
Semenyo will be a player to watch next year as well.
He is a versatile wide attacker and goalscorer, similar to how Salah plays for Liverpool.
The Bournemouth winger may have to wait until next summer’s transfer window to secure a move to a top Premier League club.
The 25-year-old is reportedly keen on a move to Anfield and could complement their attack.
However, Manchester United are also keeping a close eye on the attacker and could be drawn into a transfer battle with their Premier League rivals for Semenyo.
