It happened. It finally happened. Liverpool has agreed to a contract with Bayer Leverkusen for the relocation of Florian Wiltz.
Saga feels it has dragged a bit over the past few weeks, but sports director Richard Hughes has signed a UK record deal and juggles other important transfers.
While the details need to be organized, Liverpool reports that they have “in principle agreed to the transaction verbally” and that they have forwarded Guru Fabrizio Romano along with “current moves.”
Rumors about Luis Diaz’s summer sale continue and the agreement is at the perfect time as Barcelona is determined to surpass the contract.

But despite his dribbling skills being one of the greatest in the business, Wirtz is not actually a wide range of players. In fact, if Colombians go, FSG may need to return their toes to the transfer market.
Why Liverpool wants a winger
Diaz showed off his incredible skills in Colombia’s international obligations. He scored sensational solo goals, all fleet feet, party tricks, overtaking Argentine defenders and perhaps reminded Liverpool fans what they needed to find an upgrade.
Diaz is 28 years old and has been enrolled the following year after his Liverpool contract. Barcelona has made a recent approach and was rejected, but their interest remains and Liverpool, although publicly emphasizing their desire to maintain the winger, will certainly entertain the right offer.
It is understood that the Reds will entertain offers ranging from £60 million to £70 million this summer. The lowball player will spark the rage of Liverpool’s stubbornness and find FSG is pleased to take advantage of the best years of his career as he defeats the South American contract.
However, if Liverpool loses Diaz, they will need to find a replacement. Anthony Gordon’s name has come to mind, but Slot and Richard Hughes seem to have a better fit in mind.
Liverpool will take part in the Starwinger race
According to football insiders, Liverpool is interested in signing AC Milan’s Rafael Rio this summer. After a miserable campaign from the Serie A side that missed Europe, they may reluctantly sell.
With Liverpool scouts looking at the 26-year-old, there could be a deal in the coming months, but many Premier League clubs (named Arsenal) are also running. Milan is aiming to turn a bank into a bank that costs around £64 million from player sales.
Gordon has also been appointed as a potential option, but would the Portuguese winger probably have a higher ceiling and would it be better to help him get to it than the slot?
Why Liverpool wants Rafael Leo
Ryan Gravenberch was crowned the Premier League young player of the year in 2024/25, becoming deep, counterpressing No. 6.
The slots started ticking the clock. FSG has achieved valuable success after failing to convince current Arsenal-bound Martin Zvimendi to leave his beloved mountains in the Basque Country (no bitterness at all from Liverpool fans here).
Given the improvements made by Cody Gakpo last year, it would be appreciated that Leao would like to jump on the opportunity to take part in Slot’s projects.
Leao, who praised analyst Ben Matinson for his “world-class ability,” has been one of Italian football’s outstanding players for several years, achieving 12 goals and 13 assists in all competitions last season.
In Serie A alone, the sofa score record recorded a successful duel of 4.5 per game, with him averaged 1.4 dribbling and key passes per fixture.
Gordon has no strangers in his own combat sequences, but can I say that Leao boasts more integrity in his application? Author Theo Mwangi He even appeared in his game, blowing the Iberian “superstar” into a “superstar.”
Regressing in regards to power, Gordon may not have had his best year at Tyneside, but in 2023/24 he won the Newcastle Player of the Season Award after notching 28 goal contributions in all competitions.
But football is more than just goals and support, and especially for the winger (Diaz would be one of the first to prove it), Leao has been introducing a more robust and effective basic skill set over the past year than his English counterpart.

Gordon may declare himself a “whole’s nightmare” he opposes, but he has outperformed him completely since the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign, so he needs to be more aggressive and sharp in his natural skills.
Given that Newcastle is looking to pay at a £80 million ballpark, it’s clear that Leao is a better pick, cheaper and perhaps suits Slot’s intense playstyle.
Both players need to hit a vein of consistency and become part of the true elite, but Diaz has genuine success in Merseyside and is not blessed with the efficacy of Mohamed Sarah.
Replacing him with Leao seems like a simple thing, as Fbref’s data is even portrayed as the AC Milan star as a statistically similar player to Liverpool’s Colombian Maverick.
Liverpool is thinking about doing it over the next few weeks. It is worth repeating that this all works only if Diaz is sold – and if he is there, there is no better alternative than Leao.
