The search for a replacement for Liverpool Trent Alexander Arnold began after Fabrizio Romano confirmed his move to Real Madrid earlier this week.
The right-back has agreed to personal terms with the Spanish giants and will be taking part in a free transfer at the end of the season.
Trent is considered one of the best right-backs in the world, and his departure is set to leave a large blank on the right side of the defense, and many players who can replace the quality he brings sideways are unable to move forward in particular.
Reports suggest that the club can be seen from within the club, with Connor Bradley emerging as one of the top candidates to replace him.
Bradley is a regular feature on the side of Arneslot this season, slotting in during Alexander Arnold’s absence. He impressed the manager for his performance and won praise from the Dutch.
However, he is not the only player considered for the role, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremy Fripon emerging as the main target.
As reported by Liverpool.com, Merseyside Club “has held its first consultation” on signing him from the Bundesliga Club.
The report argues that the speech is in its early stages at this point, but Alexander Arnold’s impending move to Madrid stated the move.
Frimon could be a great signature for Liverpool
The Dutch defender played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible Bundesliga award-winning campaign last season under Xabi Alonso. His contributions to pace, dribbling and offensive have made him one of Europe’s most popular right-backs.
Frimon’s rise in excellence began at the Youth Academy in Manchester City, where he hone his technical skills. In 2019 he moved to Celtic, and quickly became a fan favorite due to his moving style of play.
His performance in Scotland won a move to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2021, where he established himself as a key part of their success.
The 24-year-old played a major role in helping Leverkusen win Bundesliga last season, scoring 14 goals and supporting 10 games in 47 matches in all competitions.
Liverpool faces competition at 24 years old and has several top clubs eager to sign him, including Manchester United.
However, Liverpool appears to be in a favorable position to sign him given the Dutch connection. Slot wants him and has already been in discussion with the players.
If Alexander Arnold leaves, securing Frimon would be a big coup for Liverpool. His signature will help strengthen the team and keep the team’s edge up for the next season.
