The race signing Hugo Ekitike has been heated up at several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, monitoring the situation for the French striker this summer.
However, negotiations can take a long time as the price tag of 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt is a staggering 100 million euros.
According to Sky Sports Reporter Flori Amplettenberg, Liverpool believes it is likely that Ekichike will land before Premier League rivals Man United and Chelsea.
Liverpool leads in the Hugo Ekichique race
Reds reportedly informed player representatives and Eintracht Frankfurt of interest, but revealed that specific moves will depend on outgoing transfers.
The Premier League champion has identified Ekitique as his replacement as he is about to sell Darwinnes this summer, but will have to raise funds from the sale before signing the Frenchman.
Nunes, who has been inconsistent since his arrival at Anfield, could move this summer, and his departure will free both funds and space for the new striker.
Ekitike is said to be fully aware of the situation in Liverpool and will wait for the club to resolve internal dynamics before they decide on their next move.
Meanwhile, Chelsea remained firmly in the race and continues to appreciate the increased offense.
Mann United also joined the contest and recently contacted Eintrohat Frankfurt to ask about Ekitike availability.
The Red Devils want to add depth to their attacking options and see the Frenchman as players who can change their attack along with the new signature Matheus Cunha.
There is growing interest in French attackers
So far, three clubs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, have all been informed that Frankfurt will not enjoy offers below 100 million euros.
The saga is expected to continue to develop as the club moves, but at this point, the Merseyside Club is leading the race to sign French attackers from the Bundesliga.
Meanwhile, the Reds are also monitoring the tabs of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, who approached the signing last summer.
As far as defensive additions go, they are tied to the movement of the sport’s Goncaro Inacio.
