Liverpool are serious about signing Nicolo Barrera from Inter Milan at the end of the season, and they can use things like Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunes as part of the deal.
According to an InterLive report, Liverpool is extremely keen to sign the 28-year-old Italian international midfielder at the end of the season. It is no secret that they need a quality central midfielder, and the Italians will be an exceptional acquisition.
Barrera is undoubtedly one of the best players in his position in Europe and he was able to improve Liverpool a lot. They need someone who can control the tempo of the game and add creativity and technical capabilities to the middle of the park. Players like the Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch have been overused this season.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will be able to make the deal. Italians are also linked to Manchester United.
Liverpool can offer players on Nicolo Barrera’s contract
The midfielder is reportedly valued at 100 million euros (£86 million). The report argues that Liverpool can include Chiesa or Nunes in their contracts. Both players have been extremely overwhelming this season, and that’s not a surprise.
Chiesa struggled with regular games, and Nunez was unable to consistently find the backstage of the net. Liverpool needs a more reliable striker and should ask for South American upgrades to be implemented.
Nunes may be keen on a fresh start, and he has been linked to a move away from Liverpool in recent months. Meanwhile, the opportunity to return to his hometown may be exciting for Chiesa. He needs to play more frequently at this stage of his career, and sitting on the Liverpool bench is unlikely to benefit him.
It is still unknown how the situation will unfold.
