Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller at the end of the season.
According to football insider Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool is monitoring the 24-year-old defensive midfielder, which could cost around £50 million. The player is reportedly on Real Madrid’s radar, so it’ll be interesting to see where he ends.
Stiller is also linked to Arsenal.
Midfielders are in demand
“It’s not surprising he’s gaining interest from top clubs,” he told Football Insider.
“He has been very impressive for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga this season.
“I think he has a release clause in the contract for about £50 million.
“He is the defensive midfielder that Liverpool sees, and he is the player that many top clubs see.
“Real Madrid is the latest club to show interest in Stiller as they are still looking for a long-term alternative to Toni Crew.”
Liverpool can use Angelo Stiller
Liverpool will be sure to use their defensive midfielder this summer, and Stiller will be a major upgrade to Wataru End. Japan International is currently the only specialized defensive midfielder at the club and he is on the Twilight stage of his career.
Liverpool needs a better quality younger alternative, and Stiller stands out in the Bundesliga. He has the physicality and technical attributes to make it work in the Premier League as well. It is still unclear whether Liverpool will follow up on their interests with official offers signed to players. They will need to improve multiple areas of the team this summer, and it may be difficult to spend £50 million on him.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will need to add more midfield depth, and the Bundesliga star could be an ideal acquisition for them. They have the resources to get deals across the line.
It would be interesting to see where the players are. He is trying to compete at a high level, and Real Madrid and Liverpool will be an exciting opportunity for him. Both clubs can provide him with a platform to fight for major trophies.
