Last season, there was little expectation from Arne Slot’s Liverpool. Anyway, it’s the overture of the campaign.

But then Liverpool began to perform and start to surprise theirs with a new system. The slot side gave up the ground in two of the opening 13 Premier League matches, creating a bay that proved too wide for Arsenal and Manchester City to bridge the gap.

To put it in fairness, comprehensive skepticism was understandable. Jurgen Klopp had left his respected post, but a historic case of Premier League similarity suggested the Reds were on a rough ride.

However, FSG made a wise choice when swiping Feyenoord’s shrewd head coach.

Now, Liverpool is showing ruthless ambitions in the summer transfer market as they are trying to consolidate their positions of power over the next few years.

Many bumper deals have already been removed, and the latest updates are set to a £79 million signature for Hugo Ekitique in Aintrak Frankfurt, but Luis Dias’ uncertain future can go beyond something else.

He is aiming to replace Liverpool Louis Diaz.

Liverpool completed many exciting signings this summer, but may still be coming. But Trent Alexander Arnold set out for Real Madrid, and now Diaz could move too.

The Columbian winger, 28, is shy for just two years left on the contract, and Liverpool has not engaged in specific consultations to extend his stay in Merseyside.

The outward stance was that Diaz was not on sale, but FSG may have an implicit acceptance that he can sell.

Needless to say, Liverpool will need to replace such a crucial part of the slot setup, with things like Real Madrid’s Rodrigo being promoted, but the Reds seem to be heading towards a non-scratched truck.

According to catch-offside, the Liverpool chief is in talks with agents at Malic Fofana, who are linked to travelling away from Lyon this summer.

Bayern is also keen to sign Belgian International, but only in the case of a potential departure this summer for Liverpool Bulgias. Therefore, Liverpool should not face harsh competition if various gears fall into place.

Lyon wants to secure €60 million (£51 million) for the sale of Fofana, but FSG wants the 20-year-old to sign for a more modest figure.

Why Liverpool wants Malik Fofana

Liverpool wants fofana. Because when Diaz leaves, he will need to sign on the left. But why specifically, did Fofana be allocated as an option alongside superstars like Rodrigo, who the Los Blancos won the price of £87 million?

Well, this might be a smarter move as Fofana is coming at a cheaper price and Cody Gakupo already occupies Liverpool’s offensive left flank.

The terms and half of the League 1 Fofana are gaining praise. Analyst Ben Matinson welcomed his “explosive” qualities under his wings and completed 62 senior appearances for Lyon, scoring 15 goals and supplying seven assists after joining from Genk, Belgium.

Moreover, he is positionally multipurpose, a skill that slots have to work out as they did the same last season.

Data via the transfer market

He’s not in full bloom yet, but Fofana is making prolific wingers. In this way he can become the perfect partner for Ekitique, who is on the verge of completing his move to Merseyside.

According to FBREF, Fofana ranked in the top 10% of midfielders and wingers during offensive in Europe’s top five league leagues last season, with the top 16% of the touch on the offensive box and the top 2% of progressive carry per 90 highlighting the potency and pace of his burjong.

To maximize his potential as a goalscoring winger for Fofana, to perform with “complete forwards” like Ekitike, he only improves such quality, as named for Talent Scout Jacek Kulig.

Ekitike may be the striker first and foremost, but he is also a very dynamic and intelligent player. Last season, in the German Bundesliga, he created 12 big opportunities and successfully duels averaged 1.3 key passes and 4.2 per game, according to his sofa score.

Slot expects French talent to add a threat to scoring, but he also expects him to broaden his frontline creative parameters.

Further evidence of Fofana’s clinical potential is found in his conversion rate. The sofa score has also only missed six big opportunities since the young winger first arrived in France in January 2024, and considering he scored eight goals, he makes things happen with a naturally born coolness in the final third.

What’s more, there was something interesting about his efforts in the Europa League last year. Fofana scored six goals in Lyon’s Continental campaign and never missed one big opportunity.

There’s so much I love and given the richness of the Liverpool team, this is still rich once Ekitique’s deal is over.
